LIFTING OF RESTRICTIONS ON INVESTMENT CEILING OF OVERSEAS CHINESE AND FOREIGNERS

On 30 December 2000, the Securities and Fu-tures Commission announced that:
The restriction on investment in any company by each overseas Chinese or foreign person or entity to not more than 50% of the total out-standing shares is lifted. The total amount that each securities investment trust enterprise may invest in any company as part of a foreign securities investment trust fund must comply with the Regulations Governing the Man-agement of Securities Investment Trust Funds.
The restriction that no securities investment trust raised by overseas Chinese or foreign persons or entities may invest more than 50% of the total outstanding shares of any company is lifted.
The restriction that required the scope of all investments in securities by foreign institu-tional investors, offshore overseas Chinese or foreign persons or entities to comply with item 4, paragraph 1 of Article 4 of the Managing Rules is lifted.
