SHORTER WORKING WEEK FROM JANUARY 2001 AT EARLIEST
On 16 June 2001 the Legislative Yuan passed an amendment to Article 30 of the Labor Standards Law. From 1 June 2001, the total working hours must not exceed 84 hours every two weeks, and normal daily working hours must not exceed eight hours. With the consent of trade unions or of half or more of the workforce, an employer may reallocate normal working time to other days within a two-week period. However, real-located time must not exceed two hours per day.
