ORIGIN CODES REQUIRED ON EXPORT CDs
To allow more effective detection of pirated laser disc products, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on 6 September that with immediate effect, exports from the ROC of four types of prerecorded disc-CD-Audio, CD-Video, CD-ROM and DVD-must bear a mould code pressed near the central hole to identify their origin. However, in the case of DVD discs imported for re-export, exporters obtaining an exemption from the Board of Foreign Trade need not apply such a code.
