OVERDUE WAGES REPAYMENT FUND REGULATIONS LIBERALIZED
The Council of Labor Affairs convened on 13 July 1999 a meeting of the Overdue Wages Repayment Fund Management Committee during which the committee resolved to liberalize regulations governing the Overdue Wages Repayment Fund (the Fund). As a result, workers who are owed wages may still receive the minimum of six months' unpaid wages even if their employer did not make monthly payments to the Fund in accordance with the Labor Standards Law; provided that their factory is closed unexpectedly or has temporarily halt operations, and the outstanding monthly payments are made to the Fund prior to the workers' or employer's application for the payment of overdue wages.
