NEGATIVE LIST FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENT AMENDED
On 7 September 1999, the Executive Yuan approved an amendment to the Negative List for Investment by Overseas Chinese and Foreign Nationals. The main points of the amendment are as follows:
Cable television operations and satellite television broadcast operations were moved from the prohibited category to the restricted category.
Car rental, trucking, highway container transportation, shipping agency, sea freight forwarding and container yard operations were removed from the restricted category.
The cadmium stearate industry and publishing were also removed from the restricted category.
Air catering was added to the restricted category.
Gas fuel supply operations still remain in the restricted category; provided, however, that foreign/overseas Chinese investors may invest only in the public utility industries which are engaged in supplying gas fuel through pipeline system within the business districts approved by the central competent authority.
