TRANSREGIONAL DOCUMENT ACCEPTANCE FOR COMPANY REGISTRATIONS
Company registration applications addressed to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) have traditionally been handled by different agencies according to a company's location and the amount of its paid-in capital. Applications from companies with a paid-in capital of less than NT$500 million, that are located in Taiwan Province, Taipei City, or Kaohsiung City, are handled, respectively, by the Central Region Office of the MOEA, the Taipei City Govern-ment, or the Kaohsiung City Government. Meanwhile, the Department of Commerce of the MOEA handles the registration of all companies with a paid-in capital of NT$500 million or above, and the registration of all companies lo-cated in Kinmen or Matsu, as well as the recog-nition of foreign companies, the establishment of branch offices of foreign companies, and the recordation of foreign companies' representa-tives.
For the convenience of company registration applicants, on 12 March 2007 the MOEA began offering a transregional document acceptance service. Henceforth, applicants may submit their application documents to any of the above agencies—the Department of Commerce, the MOEA Central Region Office, the Taipei City Government, or the Kaohsiung City Govern-ment—and on the same day each will transfer applications that should be handled by any of the other agencies to the appropriate agency for processing. Document transfer will take up to one day, and transferred documents will receive priority processing by the relevant agency.
This new service will give applicants that wish to use a counter service, rather than sending their applications by registered mail, a greater choice of locations for submitting their application documents.
