REQUIREMENT FOR DESIGN DRAWINGS
On 14 April 2007, the Intellectual Property Of-fice (IPO) published an announcement regarding patent drawing requirements as follows:
According to Paragraph 2, Article 20 of the Patent Act, when preparing drawings for an in-vention or a new utility model patent application, no wording should be added unless necessary. Since the question whether wording added into patent drawings is necessary relates to the sub-stantive content of the patent application, it should not be dealt with in the procedural ex-amination, and should only be reviewed and de-cided during the substantive examination or the formality examination of an application.
