INDUSTRIES AND WORKERS EXEMPTED FROM THE LABOR STANDARDS LAW
On 31 December 1998 the Council of Labor Affairs announced that the Labor Standards Law will forthwith apply to all employment relations, with the exception of the following industries and workers:
1.Arts and literature
2.Other social services
3.People's organizations
4.International organizations and foreign organizations stationed in Taiwan
1.Workers of industry not otherwise specifically Food and beverage classified.
2.Workers in public schools and kindergartens, special education, social education, and vocational training institutions (not including technicians, office aides, and drivers); teachers and employees at private schools, special education organizations, social education organizations, vocational training organizations, and at private kindergartens which have completed registration as non-profit proprietary institutions.
3.Workers in public academic research and service organizations (not including technicians, office aides, and drivers); researchers in private academic research and service organizations.
4.Coaches, athletes, and referees in sports industry.
5.Workers in governmental organizations (not including technicians, office aides, drivers, sanitation workers, and legislators' assistants).
6.Workers in national defense (not including civilians).
7.Doctors in the health care services industry, attorneys and accountants in the legal and accounting services industries.
1.Workers in public hospitals and clinics (not including technicians, office aides, and drivers).
2.Workers in public social service organizations (not including technicians, office aides, and drivers).
3.Workers in foundations established pursuant to statutes ratified by the Legislative Yuan.
4.Workers for household services in personal services industry.
