COMPANY REGISTRATION OP-ERATIONS FURTHER DELE-GATED

Patrick Wong

Currently, registration and supervision for companies with a paid-up capital of NT$100 million or above are handled by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). For companies with paid-up capital of less than NT$100 million, these matters are handled respectively by the Taipei City Gov-ernment, the Kaohsiung City Government, the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park Admini-stration Bureau, the Southern Science Park Ad-ministration, the Economic Processing Zone Administration of the MOEA, and the Central Taiwan Office of the MOEA.

In response to the growing size of companies and the reorganization of the MOEA, and in order to simplify administrative procedures, from 1 June 2003 the MOEA transferred such registration and supervision operations for companies with paid-up capital of at least NT$100 million but less than NT$500 million from the Department of Commerce to the Taipei City Government, the Kaohsiung City Government, and the MOEA Central Taiwan Office.
