USE OF GIORDANO NAME BY OPTICIANS VIOLATES FTL
Zuodannu Spectacles Company, Ltd. was in-corporated on 14 September 1994, and engages itself in the processing of and trade in optical lenses and other goods. Walton International Limited, a Cayman Islands corporation, regis-tered the trademark "佐丹奴" ("Giordano") on 11 June 1994 for use in import and export trade, and uses the trademarks "Giordano in Chinese" and "Giordano" on goods including clothing and timepieces. According to a recent decision of the Fair Trade Commission, use of the name "Zuo-dannu (Giordano in Chinese) Spectacles" takes unfair advantage of another's commercial repu-tation, and is an obviously unfair action suffi-cient to affect the orderly conduct of trade, in violation of Article 24 of the Fair Trade Law.
