SID CODES REQUIRED ON 12 TYPES OF OPTICAL MEDIA
The Board of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Eco-nomic Affairs, recently announced that with ef-fect from 25 February 2002, it will be mandatory under Article 24 of the Optical Media Manage-ment Statute, and Articles 6 and 21-2 of the Regulations Governing Export of Commodities, for Source Identification (SID) codes to be im-printed onto 12 types of pre-recorded optical media intended for export. The 12 categories include audio disks with educational or news content, other pre-recorded video disks, and read-only disks with pre-recorded cinemato-graphic, video, or radio or television program content. Violators will be subject to criminal penalties under the statute.
