REVISED COMPANY REGISTRA-TION PROCEDURES

In response to the recent amendment to the Company Law, the Ministry of Economic Af-fairs (MOEA) has announced new procedures for company registrations. Starting from 14 November 2001, certificates of incorporation are no longer issued, and it is no longer necessary to pay a certificate fee. Henceforth, under Article 392 of the law, if a company requires documen-tary proof of its registration, it should submit a duly sealed application form to the Department of Commerce, MOEA for the issuance of a cer-tificate, at a charge of NT$100 per copy. Article 387 of the law provides that failure to apply for company registration within the statutory time limit is punishable by an administrative fine of not less than NT$10,000 but not more than NT$50,000; it also provides for successive pen-alties for continued non-compliance.
