RESTRICTIONS ON SUBMARINE CABLE LEASING TO BE RE-LAXED
The MOTC states that it intends to relax the re-strictions on entities eligible to lease interna-tional submarine cable circuits. From February 2002, the eligible businesses will be extended from fixed network operators as at present to include Type II telecommunication business that provides international telecoms services. Inter-national submarine cable operators business will also be allowed to build some of their own backhaul facilities.
