CLA TO RELAX QUALIFICA-TIONS FOR FOREIGN WHITE-COLLAR WORKERS
The Council of Labor Affairs (CLA) proposes amendments to the Enforcement Rules of the Employment Services Law. Under the current enforcement rules, for foreign specialist or tech-nical personnel in areas such as information technology to be granted work permits to work in Taiwan, they must hold a PhD or master's degree and have at least one year's relevant work ex-perience, or hold a bachelor's degree and have at least two years' relevant experience. Under the proposed amendment, these restrictions as to qualifications and experience may be lifted on a case-by-case basis with the consent of the central government authority responsible for the indus-try concerned.
