CONDITIONS FOR UNEMPLOY-MENT BENEFIT RELAXED
To cater to the needs of unemployed workers in Taiwan, on 30 January 2001 the CLA announced that effective immediately, it has greatly relaxed the conditions for payment of unemployment benefit. Henceforth, under the relevant provi-sions, any worker who has been employed for a full year and has paid unemployment insurance contributions in the normal way can apply to receive unemployment benefit for up to six months if he is unable to find employment al-though willing to work. Benefits may also be paid for an unlimited number of repeat periods.
